Book Covers

I've recently chosen covers for the e-editions (with print on demand) of my first two novels Singing Bird and Meeting Point.
I always thought the cover for the hardback (first edition) of Singing Bird was saccharine and baffling (why was there a woman in a deck chair with a toddler? had the designer actually read the story?) but I didn't have the confidence to object and ask it to be changed. The US hardback invited curiosity (what was on the other side of the hill?) but didn't convey suspense.. The German cover at least had a sense of the west of Ireland, where the story is set. The Dutch edition with an image of the Cliffs of Moher (featured in the story) was more atmospheric. The newly published e-edition (electronic editions weren't around when Singing Bird was first published) also uses the image of the Cliffs of Moher. I like it. I think it conveys a sense of the mystery at the heart of the story.
I hope book buyers like it too.
